Steelhead Ice

I had been planning this fishing trip for a week and I thought to let you know exactly how it went I'm sure you all enjoy this. I woke up at 6:00 am for a cup of coffee and went to start my truck it was snowing and the road was about 8 "of snow but as I had on my heart put in to do some trout fishing I decided to go ahead with my plans.
After I loaded my gear and filled my thermos I walked to the door to find the snow plow coming down the street pushing a berm of snow up to my bumper. Back in the garage and got a shovel I spent the next excavation hours the driveway so I could get out. Then withdraw from the unity of form and went to far and has been in the snow berm on the other side of the street. During the following 20 minutes d_ _ _ dig the truck out. But fishing was determined that it is directed toward the Salmon River in Riggins, Idaho this is usually around a 30-minute however not drive to the snow and all it took me over an hour to arrive.
I finally made it to the river only to find the wind and gusts over 30 miles per hour and the temperature was up to the thirties. I was able to find a place where I could stand up with without having to cling to something to be preserved blowing in the wind. I grab my things and started down the river and I climbed a rock along the roadside that unfolds beneath my feet, down the hill from my computer I'm flying all over the place while I try not to become clear in the River. For the next twenty minutes picking my team never did find my damn shrimp bait. I realized somewhere along the way I had cut my leg and blood that now flows down my leg into my boot. Well back to the van to get first aid kit and wrap leg. The cut was not too bad, but because it was so cold that just will not clot and stop bleeding. I did finally get the thing to stop the bleeding and went and went to make the first cast of the day yes you guessed it, now I have a bird's nest like no other you stay and look at it for some time, there must be spent another thirty minutes to unravel what you want to winter fishing for rainbow trout. The next few hours were uneventful. I wish I could have found my bait shrimp but hey I have taken before without it.
After fishing an hour or so I finally have a hook on a good strike and Steelhead during the time of year is the placement out of a fight to take it far as I can see and can walk ten pounds in that time, he makes another run and strips about 20 meters from the line before he turns and nothing to me, I'm staggering like a windmill in a gale and the time they start at a certain voltage back slips off the hook and nothing.
Its starting to snow now and in the snow and the wind had to surrender to the elements and I pack my things and headed to the truck. Once I can go back to the truck I see now I have the fingers so cold I can barely feel something nice not having more time to get the truck open.
The drive home was uneventful despite and it takes an hour to fix the problem before it finally can absorb and park trucks.
You know next week can be a lot better the Steelhead Fishing maybe I'll tell you when you return. Just love this rainbow trout fishing in winter.

Towards the evening of the following day, Randal Leslie walked slowly from a village in the main road (about two miles from Rood Hall), at which he had got out of the coach. He passed through meads and corn-fields, and by the skirts of woods which had formerly belonged to his ancestors, but had been long since alienated. He was alone amidst the haunts of his boyhood, the scenes in which he had first invoked the grand Spirit of Knowledge, to bid the Celestial Still One minister to the commands of an earthly and turbulent ambition. He paused often in his path, especially when the undulations of the ground gave a glimpse of the grey church-tower, or the gloomy firs that rose above the desolate wastes of Rood. Here, thought Randal, with a softening eye -- . here, how often, comparing the fertility of the lands passed away from the inheritance of my fathers, with the forlorn wilds that are left to their mouldering hall -- here, how often have I said to myself -- ' I will rebuild the fortunes of my house.' And straightway Toil lost its aspect of drudge, and grew kingly, and books became as living armies to serve my thought. Again -- again -- O thou haughty Past, brace and strengthen me in the battle with the Future. His pale lips writhed as he soliloquised, for his conscience spoke to him while he thus addressed his will, and its voice was heard more audibly in the quiet of the rural landscape, than amidst the turmoil and din of that armed and sleepless camp which we call a city. Doubtless, though Ambition have objects more vast and beneficent than the rest... |
