With parents and public officials recognizing the dangers of ultraviolet radiation and sunburn in recreational areas, especially during the summer months, shadow projects in the recreation areas are finally receiving more attention and funding. Apart from issues of UV skin damage are the concerns over the dangerously hot playground equipment during the summer. Most people who grew up in the 1970s recalls burning the backs of his legs at least once in a toboggan.

If your park and decides to undertake a program of shade, the first step is to document the shadow that is already there and find ways working with him. Sometimes, pruning low-hanging branches can increase usable areas of shade, as the team can move into the shade and seating areas. Scattered shade works well in areas where children are active and running. In areas where children are sitting in one place, or when you are playing in a confined area, more shade be available. If your community is interested in adding natural shade instead of or along with artificial shade structures will have to assess soil and other factors such as strong winds affecting the selection of species of shade trees.

In most cases, a combination of natural shade and artificial shade structures work best. Types are permanent shade structures pergolas and terraces, tents and tents, awnings, shade sails and structures portable shade. Shadow Scaffolding can be fiberglass, PVC, or steel. Shade cloth that is dark and tightly woven block or absorb UV radiation better the tissues of lighter, more loosely woven. Fabrics should indicate the level of UV protection they offer, and should provide the equivalent of a Protection Factor (SPF) of 15 or greater.

Most artificial shade structures are made of colored polyethylene sheeting attached to the corrosion of galvanized steel resistant frames. They come in different colors to coordinate with existing playgrounds are designed to protect people in recreational areas of radiation UV and other weather elements. These structures are designed to withstand not only for high winds, but local building codes.

Children usually receive 80% of their sun exposure before the age of 18. Sun damage in childhood increases the risk of developing cancer skin in adulthood. Protection from UV radiation on playgrounds and parks can make significant progress in preventing future cases of cancer skin. In recent years, providers of shade structures have come to the forefront of design and pleasure people get health benefits and convenience add shadow coming from public spaces. And the addition of shade to the existing playground does not mean a huge expense and upheaval.

The Academy American Dermatology (AAD) feels so strongly about protecting children from UV radiation which provides annual scholarships of $ 8,000 each for the purchase of shade structures for playgrounds outdoors. Applications for 2009 grants are due on 10 April 2009 at 5 pm Central Time. Recipients subsidies must be notified in June.

AAA State of Play offers playground shade made with steel and fabric roofs. By providing shade equipment such as balance beams made with metal will remain cool.

The people here in Chicago, came out this week to the falling leaves, (rapidly) cooling temperatures, and the fresh smell in the air that only could mean one thing: fall is really here. And with the fast time, falling leaves and Halloween decorations comes another fall basic apple cider.

Yes, the cider! That sometimes clear, sometimes dark, dry or sweet or tart libation that Americans drank a gallon before beer came and screwed all. However, despite its seasonal charm, despite a recent rise in popularity (no doubt thanks to my tireless efforts), for some people this drink is still difficult to find. That's why I created this guide helpful. Whether you're like me and lament the fall of cider as a beverage of choice for the United States or thirsts for something different and our drinks section contains no temptation, you will find the information you need here.

In its (core of no pun intended), cider-making is all about patience. Beer miserable one month aging time pales in comparison to the (at least compromise) required three months to ferment a batch of cider. In terms of physical effort, so it takes much less preparation for the beer wort which makes juice cider ( "Must"). However, any home brewer familiar with the experience of drinking homemade cider and watch the leaves fall can say it is well worth it!

Get your juice.

As the cider is just apple juice years, one would think that is as easy as buying a bottle of Indian Summer in the store and drilling in an airlock, but I desperately wrong. The preservatives in apple juice, cider production commercial ruin half a bottle of juice will rot before it ferments and the lack of yeast means we'd need to add your own (the more experienced brewers can do it anyway, but not strictly necessary). If you have to buy the juice, buy a brand without preservatives or other chemicals strangers, Otherwise, head to your nearest apple orchard and buy some fresh apple juice.

More beer-or those looking for a challenge, can start from scratch by going to an orchard and obtaining fresh apples. This method is slow and difficult, apart from taking the appropriate mix of apples, you must mash ( "Scrat") and press the same apples for juice. Small volumes of apple juice can be obtained through juicers and small presses, but it is recommended that you purchase your own equipment or you need larger quantities. All the work that this can be difficult, but it offers no ready-made juice: control total on his experience of making cider. If you decide to start from scratch, you also have to carefully balance its apples. To create a dry cider, use a balance 2:1 tart apples to sweet. To create a sweet cider, quite the contrary. And never use cooking apples.

The good thing is that once you have found the must, the process becomes simple.

Save the juice.

First, a glass or wooden fermentation vessel to store your juice. This can be anything from a sealed bottle to a full size barrel, depending on the volume of cider, which is seeking to produce. As with all development tools beer, its container must be sterilized before use. Pour in wine, and make sure the container is filled to the brim. Leaving extra space for the air practically guarantees that you will end up making apple cider vinegar, not apple cider vinegar that is a bad thing, but not what we're trying to do!

Once the wort is in the fermentation vessel, check the gravity of the juice. This is the density of the liquid, and is an indicator of how alcohol is-the higher the number, the most potent beer. There is a critical step, but if you go for the predictable results, pick up a hydrometer. Gravity ideally should be between 1,050 and 1,080.

Step yeast (maybe).

The traditional cider is made using only yeast in the skin of apples. If you have fresh pressed juice or try a vegetable garden, no need to add any yeast at all. However, if you're using store-bought juice or more exactly the fermentation control, a field in a vial of champagne yeast (available at retailers of beer). Then close the fermentation vessel, seal it, connect a air chamber (partially filled with water), and play the waiting game.

The waiting is the hardest part.

Keep your containers in a dark place of between 40 and 60 degrees and proceed to play with the thumbs, at least one month, preferably three. You should check on the containers regularly-once it stops bubbling, the yeast has consumed all the sugar in the juice, and it's time to bottle, or rack, resulting cider. You're almost done! After sampling the fruits of their work to make sure disaster that has not attracted attention, use sterile tube to deflect its cider in bottles.

Now, before from the top of the bottles, a question: What would you like carbonated cider? Traditional ciders are almost always flat, but the most popular modern cider has at least some carbonation. If you want to shine in his drink, the tone in a small-extra fine sugar for the yeast to continue chowing down. Otherwise, just the bottle cider.

If all this seems too intimidating, but you still want to try some new facts to the cider, kits can also be purchased by Mr. Beer.

Now that you have your own cider, consider these fun applications:

Apple Cider Corned Beef and Cabbage

Hot Buttery Cider

Baby Back Ribs with Spiced Apple Cider Mop

Apple Cider Punch

But be sure to keep a bottle or two. Some days, nothing better than cracking open, drinking deeply, and see the autumn leaves.
