The other day I was at a karaoke bar and heard someone say that they will apply for one of the music shows the reality that we see on television too. I do not intend to mention the show, but make some accurate observations about the reality of what is great as a singer.
The previous comment is that I've often heard in various parts of many people, but the truth is that most of them simply do not have the talent, and those that do rarely make the big time. So sing in the karaoke and at home, your partner thinks they are great so do their families, so they must have something, right? .. Wrong! The fact that their friends and family say they are big does not mean that you are. Too often they do not tell the truth. I have heard countless bad singers who think they are great because someone told them, usually a friend or family member, when the reality is that a moose sound like gargling broken glass. Sometimes it's worth listening to your enemies.
I run an entertainment agency based in the UK and often people ask my opinion on how they sound, and I am honest with them. I try to be diplomatic, but if bad, then I say that the best way I can. I must admit that being honest has not always gone well with people, but if you ask a question is not surprised by the results. I know it seems hard to break the placing of a person but is sometimes best. If truth be told, many do not apply for these reality shows and must suffer the humiliation of being told how bad they are broadcast to millions with him (although he could attend the hearings very boring).
I been to show the calls, these are events where agents exhibit the acts they represent, where some of the acts that have received this comment from Karaoke. What do I mean? The truth is that it would be great karaoke singers, but certainly good enough to entertain an audience for a night, this observation tells us I do not book them. At the end of the day is my reputation on the line. Now might be that only had a day off, but I want to take the risk, the answer is not. I also hear a lot of quality acts that book to me is not all bad. Many of these acts of quality never make the leap to fame, but may make a good life as artists. Some of these people are people of great talent who deserves a great opportunity, but the reality is that never come. These are people outside the industry thinks it's easy.
So what I suggest to those who have some reading ability? The answer is to find a good agent, and if they are interested in knowing that you are going for an audition, and wait to see what happens. Management companies are also a good way to go as often in search of new talent, and if they are interested in you that will help you develop. Maybe someday I will be the next big thing to hit music, but meanwhile you can make money doing something that is good. Interruptions can come or pass you by as many, but it will be entertaining people, you will be watching, and there is much to say about fashion feel an artist from the audience.
As an aside from what I've written and make my point, I'd like to share with you the following. A couple of my knowledge recently auditioned for one of the aforementioned musical reality, she has a trained voice and has sung with a choir at the Royal Albert Hall. She is young (21) and most importantly beautiful and talented, but they refused. With a bit of parenting that has the ability to be a great artist. Stardom used to be something you earn, Today days is something that is fickle and managed, is manufactured for the mass market, and to account for anything except the next paycheck. Cynical perhaps, but when we look at the wealth of talent out there, sometimes makes you wonder. They are not as much as the old talent show that launched many careers, are more such as grazing cattle markets of the masses to the slaughter in the name of ratings.
