Angler Fly

When I was learning to fly fishing I was very fortunate to have been educated about how to show courtesy and respect for the beautiful natural resources that God has kindness has given us. I naively thought that this is what fly fishing was and that everyone flying fish had the same morals and values he had learned. Unfortunately, I was wrong.

I have found that while many fly fishermen keep the same moral and ethical standards that I do, not all world does. In my idealistic mind, I still believe that all anglers should be on a pedestal and be a shining example of what we all fly fishermen should be. I think we should lead by example. We must be leaders (no pun) and practice what we preach to enlighten our fellow fishing community what the good sportsmanship and good water flow label in question.

The following are some basic etiquette while fly fishing that I have either been taught, directly or indirectly by the observation learned:

1. Obey all local laws and state fish and standards, including when no one else around. You never know who may be lurking.
2. Always acknowledge and respect property rights. Always ask permission first. waters public are rapidly disappearing and we must show the utmost respect for the owners to prove that we are gentlemen.
3. Do not litter. If you brought it, take it out (even leaders). If you change a leader, tail up and put in a jacket pocket to pull ahead. Leave the area cleaner than you found it.
4. Wade only when necessary. Aquatic life is essential for the survival of trout.
5. Strive not to leave marks or traces as possible.
6. the word mother. If someone happens to divulge a secret about a favorite fishing hold, hold you. There is nothing worse than losing a favorite, quiet to a crowd.
7. Approach the water slowly and quietly. Do not enter the water anywhere near a fisherman who is already in the water. A section of water belongs to the first fisher. It is inconsiderate to move a fisherman who was there first. One of the times this can be a problem when fishing is a popular run on Steelhead the Great Lakes and fisheries Russian River in Alaska during the execution of sockeye salmon.
8. If there are many fishermen on a stretch of river or stream, we found a section is equal to or greater than the distance between each fisherman.
9. A stationary angler has every right to stay where he / she is the time they want. If you are working your way towards them out of the current foot and silent around him. That said, the mobile angler also should practice civility and, after a certain amount of time has passed, the share of that piece of water with others.
10. If you see a fisherman sitting on the bench, keeping a close watch on water, he may be resting on the water and give the fish (and himself a break). Do not load in the stream and take this place away from him. Instead, go talk with and ask him how he is doing and can choose to share this stage with you ... but do not be surprised if it does not.
11. If a fisherman has a fish nearby, performance to that person and if necessary, lend a hand, offering the network to the fish, etc.
12. After hooking a fish, do not play too much. Earth fishing nets as quickly as possible. Keep it in the water as much as possible and remove the hook with pliers without touching the trout, if possible.
13. Practice catch and release. Each time we release a trout after a second chance ... the opportunity to grow, the chance to reproduce, an opportunity to provide another angler with the joy has occurred.
14. Boaters need to yield to the fishermen who are already in the current (this is the protocol more navigation, and that anything but still applies here.) It should not float small streams where there is not much room to get their boats through this particular section. If possible spend a fisherman wading behind but still in doubt, shout in front for the fisherman and asked him which bank you want to navigate.
15. Never turn a fire in someone else's property.
16. Use common sense.
17. Communicate calmly to resolve the conflict.

Steelhead fly label Fishing is very similar to fishing for their smaller cousins but I recently learned an extra point I would like to share here as well.

1. In West, practice what they call "rotation pool." Here is where each participants issued the fly fisherman and left adrift by the pool and then takes one to three steps from the creek. I never knew this until a recent visit to Colorado where I was talking to the owner of a fly that guides child in Alaska. This method is widely used in Oregon and Washington, but from what I understand, is not really do too much either in Alaska.
2. In the East, the concept of "rotation pool "is an unknown and I can not say I've ever seen practiced in the Great Lakes region. I'm all for it, however. After fish the Lake Erie many times and many fishermen and sitting in a hole or in the pool for hours, I am of the opinion that this method would be a great addition and a welcome change in Eastern steelheading.

I think fly fishing is the sport that is more rewarding for those who truly understand and embrace it. Can be a time to complete solitude and reflection, a means of stress / stress reduction from the rigors of daily routine or a time of fellowship with friends and / or family. I found it one of the most impressive of God blessings.
